It’s Almost Time to “Fall Back!”

Oct. 22nd 2015

Daylight Saving Time 2015 ends on Sunday, November 1st at 2 am…so, don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before you go to sleep on Halloween night!

Daylight saving time is no fun for anyone. And, the lack of sleep is often harder on children than adults, as younger children are still developing routine sleep patterns and habits. Teresa Stewart, MS, MPH, a member of the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants, insists that the fall time change doesn’t have to be a nightmare for your family.

With a little preparation, and understanding of what is going on biologically in your child’s body, and patience on your part, you can make the “shift” either the week before, or the week after, and help your entire family achieve the sleep you need…

Uncover tips for managing the time change in Stewart’s article, “Fall Daylight Saving Time – What does it mean for sleep?”

The History of Daylight Saving Time

Saving Time (DST) is used to save energy and make better use of daylight. The idea was suggested in ancient times and later by famous scientists. History has shown that the phrase “spring forward, fall back” has been in use at least as far back as the early 20th century, with various start and end dates over the years. Currently, Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 am on the second Sunday of March and ends at 2 am, on the first Sunday in November.
