Our Dynamic Fair Acres Summer Camp Team

“I said a BOOM CHIKKA BOOM,” sings Gabe Rourke, one of our most energetic counselors at Fair Acres, to kick off one of our first circles during Session 3 with a bang! I continued to hear those same lyrics sung by our campers for the rest of the week, it was AWESOME!

I cannot believe we are already half way through the summer, and moving forward our goal at camp is to make every camp day better than the last, which starts with our amazing staff. All of our fantastic counselors were selected from a pool of highly qualified candidates and went through a comprehensive orientation and training process. We were happy to welcome back some of our counselors from last summer, including Nathaniel, Maranda, and Kylie, who are bubbly, caring, energetic, and very silly. We were also delighted to bring on some new members of our Fair Acres team, Matt and Clair, who were, I dare to say, more excited for camp then our campers! And that is a statement I do not take lightly.

During the off-camp season our counselors are in schools all over the country, from San Diego State in California, High Point University in North Carolina, to the University in Chicago in Illinois – and, also right here in our neck of the woods, at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Our staff are members of Division I rowing teams, varsity ice hockey players, and even counselors that have been drafted for their skills on the court! We have quite the dynamic team here and we are so excited to share their amazing experiences and excitement with your campers! Let’s gets ready for another great week!

All the best,

Lisa

What Families Are Saying About Fair Acres!

Hear from some of our biggest fans…

(click on the letter to enlarge)

“I can’t say enough about the outstanding experience we had at Fair Acres. My daughter Lily went there from 2.9 years through Kindergarten and each full summer via the Summer Camp Program for 8 years. Lily has the most wonderful memories of her years at Fair Acres. From The teachers, the grounds, the classrooms, the programs and the camp nights with the campfire stories….the Larsons continue to make childhood memories with their school. I encourage all families to consider Fair Acres when making a choice in their child’s early education and summer Camp Programs. Thank you Fair Acres for all the wonderful memories.” ~ Nanette Alves Davidson

Meet Our Incoming Teachers!

We are so excited to welcome two incoming teachers for the 2016-2017 school year!

Returning to Fair Acres after taking some time off to start a family, Erika Gray will be teaching in the Younger 3’s class with Ms. Anina — and, Ashley Lawton, who is new to the Fair Acres family, will be teaching with Ms. Tracy in the Pre-K classroom. We are so happy to welcome them both!

Learn more about Erika and Ashley in their bios, below…

Erika Gray

Erika Gray lives in Marstons Mills with her husband Jason and son Mason. Erika has been a preschool teacher for 15 years and joined the Fair Acres team in 2010. After spending 4 wonderful years in the Pre-K program, she took some time off to start a family. She is so excited to be back and will be co-teaching in the Younger 3’s classroom. In her free time, Erika enjoys cooking, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.

Ashley Lawton

Ashley recently graduated from Bridgewater State University majoring in Early Childhood Education and Care with minors in Communication Studies and Special Education. She lives in Sandwich with her parents and three younger sisters. When she is not teaching she enjoys bringing her dog Lola to the beach, being outdoors, reading the latest Nicholas Sparks book, and spending time with family and friends.

It takes a team! Meet the rest of the Fair Acres staff!

This is a special evening for the children of Fair Acres. We will be saying “good bye” to our beloved Kindergarten Class as well as celebrating this year’s theme…

Carolyn Larson Returns to Fair Acres!

Fair Acres Students Benefit From One-On-One Instruction

Much has changed since Carolyn Larson opened Fair Acres Country Day School in 1987. After receiving her college degree at age 50, running a successful preschool for 18 years and retiring in 2005, Carolyn finds herself back where she started, assisting with our full day Kindergarten!

Here is what Carolyn has to say on her return to Fair Acres…

“Now, 11 years after my retirement, I am back where I love to be, enjoying every minute with the Kindergarten class. Miss Kara has done an incredible job creating and implementing a complete Kindergarten curriculum that prepares your children for a successful integration into 1st grade. I work with two students each week in the private tutoring room at the Sanborn Building reviewing the weeks programs. Not only is this time extremely productive with the students, I find it incredibly rewarding for myself! Now I know what you are thinking…’How beneficial can a couple of hours a week be with an 82-year-old teacher?!’ Well I have to tell you, I am amazed at how much we are able to cover in our individual time together and the results are amazing (just ask any one of our Kindergarten students!). I am so grateful for this opportunity to work with your children; Kara is amazing and the children are so special. I am also very proud to still be a part of this incredible experience here at Fair Acres Country Day School!”

Having Carolyn back at Fair Acres has been a complete joy for all. Watching the students “line up” in preparation for their time with Carolyn, tells the whole story. Thank you Carolyn, for making our Kindergarten even more special!

The benefits of one-on-one and small-group instruction in early childhood education are countless. At Fair Acres, we are so fortunate to be able to offer individual and small-group learning, unlike public schools that must operate within the constraints of large classes and high student-teacher ratios.

Our teachers are first-rate educators, passionate about helping children develop their cognitive and social skills, their language abilities, and their interest in learning about the wonders of the world around them.

We have limited availability in our 2016-2017 classes! Learn more here!

2016 Summer Camp Registration is Open!

Fair Acres Country Day Camp runs for eight weeks, through the months of July and August. Camp opens at 7:30 am, Monday through Friday, with the camp program beginning at 9:00 am. The camp program ends at 3:30 pm and extended care is available until 5:00 pm. Campers range in age from 4-11 years and are grouped according to their age. Camp runs in two week sessions with most campers choosing multiple sessions throughout the summer.

Fair Acres Summer Camp is all about fun! Throughout the day, campers participate in a wide range of activities which include:

Campers pack a lunch and drink daily as well as a bathing suit and towel. Fair Acres provides plenty of water breaks during the camp day and requires that all campers have sneakers to ensure their safety during daily activities.

Fair Acres encourages parents to visit camp and experience the same enjoyment and excitement that campers get. Your child will make lasting friendships, learn all about what it is to be a camper and most of all… they will look forward to coming back the next day!

Where in the World is Lucy?

We have had a lot of people asking about our famous Fair Acres dog, Lucy, lately! Many of you have noticed that she hasn’t been on campus recently, checking in on the children and staff, as she regularly does…

Well, lucky for Lucy, she has had the opportunity to spend some time with Molly Larson, in Philadelphia! Lucy has been enjoying keeping Molly company at UPenn Veterinary School, and has also had a chance to meet all kinds of new canine friends. Lucy has been a fantastic companion for Molly, keeping Molly’s stress at bay during her exams!

As much as we miss Lucy here at Fair Acres, we know she is in good hands with future veterinarian Molly…
